Shows

Throughout the winter Devana Dogs holds a series of Winter Shows, every show is held at Ladyleys Equestrian Centre, Oldmeldrum, Aberdeen, AB510DR. These shows are a great opportunity to train over winter whether you are Grade 1 or Grade 7.

For the more competitive among us there are the 'Blink and Edge' Memorial Shields to compete for, at every show points are awarded from 1st to 10th place the person with the most points after our March Show wins the Sheild. The Blink Shield is awarded for the best in Grade 1-3 and the Edge Trophy for the best in Grades 4-7. In the 2021-22 we are also adding a Club/Trainer Trophy awarded the club or trainer whose combined members accumulate the most points over the winter.

Each show is supported by our sponsor Millies Paws of Rothienorman, they will be providing the judges specials for each of our classes and also be providing us with a prize to go along with the shield.

See below for a little about Blink and Edge

Edge

Edge had a very short life. At just 19 months of age he was taken from us by the monster epilepsy. He was only one year old when he took his first seizure. Despite our best efforts to keep it under control with medication his fight for life ended with a massive seizure which he just couldn’t come out of. Although his agility career didn’t really start he was such a fun loving, happy go lucky boy and part of Edge lives on with his brothers Tam and Glen and sister Nesta. The Edge Memorial Trophy is not only in memory of Edge but in memory of any other dog who suffered this awful condition. The Trophy is awarded to the best grade 1-3 dog throughout the winter series.

Blink

Blink was a 4 year old sprocker who sadly got killed outright by a car as she ran off chasing a bird. Pauline did a 12 hour round trip to North Wales to collect her at just 7 weeks old. She was an awesome little dog who loved to almost trip Pauline up in the ring as she ran to get her contacts - even though she wasn’t meant to. It wasn’t the first time Pauline almost went flying in the ring as Blink flew towards a contact as that was where she loved to be 😁. Even though Blink’s agility career was very short she made it to Grade 4.

The loss of Blink almost tore Pauline apart, her death was such a tragic sudden loss. Blink’s memory stays with us by the help of the Blink Memorial Trophy. This is awarded to the best grade 4-7 dog throughout each winter series.

Kaydn

Orcadian Knight

Our very own club mascot Kadyn (Orcadian Knight) sadly passed over to rainbow bridge on 7th January 2020., aged 13 years. Kadyn was a one in a million dog. Reaching Grade 7 in 2009, at just 3 years of age and competing for Scotland at the World Agility Championships (WAO - the most prestigious event in the world) 4 years in a row, taking Laura to England, Belgium, Spain and Italy, gaining a bronze and silver medal for Scotland. He fathered 3 amazing litters of which Titch, Pepper, Mike, Tam, Glen and Nesta were born and not to mention his very last ‘accident’ which produced Bing and Cassie.

Also not forgetting Edge and Eva who were taken to rainbow bridge far too soon, at a young age. To celebrate Kadyn’s wonderful life we are introducing a best Club (i.e. Devana Dogs) / Trainer (i.e. Joe Bloggs) trophy and this will be presented at the end of each winter series to the nominated person of the winning club / trainer. It will be your responsibility to add your club / trainer to your entry form and points will be accumulated after each show.
